Trusteddealers.co.uk, the online used car sales alliance of franchised dealers, has released the names of 19 new participating groups.
The used car website, launched at the beginning of the year, as an alternative to online classified sites such as Auto Trader and Exchange and Mart, claims to be the first to be collectively owned by its advertisers, all of whom are franchised dealers.
The latest signings doubles the size of the operation with the number of participating dealer groups totalling 38.
The project was conceived by Ken Savage from Perrys and Lookers’ Peter Jones with Robert Forrester of Vertu Motors joining them on the board. The business is run by former Motors.co.uk executives Neil Addley and Andrew Dyson.
The latest batch of members include Beadles; Currie Motors; Eastern Western; Hartwell; Hendy Group; Holdcroft; John Clark; John Martin; Lloyds; Pentagon; Phoenix; Renault Retail; Robinsons; Rybrook; SG Smith; Snows; Spires (M25 Audi); Sturgess; and Swansway.
The founding members including Arnold Clark, Bristol Street, Caffyns, Cambria, Camden Ventures, Cooperative Motor Group, Drive Motor Group, Ford Retail, Jardine, JCT600, Johnsons, Lookers, Marshall, Pendragon, Perrys, Ridgeway and Wayside.
Speaking at the time of the launch Neil Addley, managing director, said the long term success of the site would be dependent on attracting new members.
“Our number one priority is to get the phone to ring at the lowest price we can by reducing the cost of advertising for members. As more companies come on board, more money can be invested in marketing the website to consumers; bringing with it more sales. So it’s a win-win situation for all involved. There is also the potential for us to work with other media and suppliers in the future,” he said.
