Owner of Bristol Seat and Skoda Mark Stevens has sold the business to Blade Motor Group for an undisclosed sum.

Blade Group is ranked 143 in the Motor Trader Top 200 with annual turnover of £63.3m in the year to December 2008.

Strong relationship

Blade Motor Group managing director Mike Flanagan said: "I am really pleased with the acquisition of Bristol SEAT and Skoda.

"We have a strong relationship with Volkswagen UK and this will be our first experience of the Skoda brand also. We look forwarding to welcoming our new colleagues at the site into our business."

David Kendrick, transaction manager at accountants ASE, which handled the sale, said: "It certainly looks like the transactional activity in the sector is picking up, with a number of interesting conversations being had currently.

"The acquisition of Bristol Seat and Skoda sees yet another single site operation being acquired by a larger group."
