Toyota dealers could start working on rectifying vehicles involved in its accelerator recall as early as next week.
Replacement parts are currently being shipped to the UK from Japan and will be distributed across Toyota's network of dealers and authorised repairers.
DVLA database The brand said 180,000 vehicles in the UK will be affected by the recall and it is currently working with the DVLA to build a database of customers who they will then send recall notices to.
A Toyota spokesman said the issuing of recall notices was happening faster than normal with the DVLA fast-tracking its work for Toyota.
He also said the brand only expects a tiny percentage of pedals to show signs of the fault experienced in America where the sticking problem was first identified.
Prius problem Separately the brand also moved to dismiss reports that a Prius brake problem, reported in America and Japan, was affecting UK models.
"Toyota GB can confirm that there have been no reported problems in the UK or Europe with the braking performance of the current, third-generation Prius, since its launch in August 2009," it said.
Investigation Meanwhile Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) said it was investigating notices it has received from dealers in the US and Japan.
"As TMC is in the process of confirming the contents of such notifications and is investigating the performance of the Prius as related to the complaints, it would be premature to comment at this time," it said.
