Warranty firm launches new scheme for dealers

Friday, 19 June 2009
mot_250The Warranty Group has launched a new scheme which it claims will help dealers boost their warranty business.

The scheme, called ‘Try Our Expert', puts a warranty specialist into a dealership for up to three weeks to put in place sales procedures and teach new skills to dealership staff.

Ian Simpson, sales and marketing director, said: "We have been trialling this idea and, in an average dealership over a fortnight, the expert can move from a standing start to selling 10-15 service plans every week.

"Service Plans are an excellent product but very often dealers lack the skills and experience to make them work.

"Try Our Expert is the fastest way to get them up to speed and selling Service Plans every day."

Simpson said the scheme was "cost effective" with the dealer paying for the expert's wages with a little on top.

Service plans break down the cost of routine car servicing into monthly payments made by direct debit.

Some consumers like them because they are not faced by one big service bill.

Others resent losing interest on paying up front.
