Audi is the top car franchise in the UK, according to the RMIF's NFDA Dealer Attitude Survey for winter 2008/9. Dealers were asked to rate the overall value of holding the franchise on a score of one to 10 with one being poor and 10 being excellent. According to the survey, the top 10 franchises in the UK are in order of scoring: Audi, Toyota, Jaguar, Lexus, BMW, Volkswagen, Ford, Kia, Mini and Suzuki. The most improved performer compared to six months ago when the survey was last carried out was Subaru followed by Toyota, Lexus and Mazda. Other franchises had a difficult time over the six months and their performance deteriorated. The worse hit was Honda, followed by Mitsubishi, Chrysler, Jeep Dodge, Chevrolet and Proton. Dealers were asked to gauge performance on key categories, including, for example, bonus and rebate rates on new car sales. Here the top three performers were Audi, and Toyota and the worst performers Honda and Peugeot. Manufacturers offer dealers inducements to self-register vehicles and dealers were asked to rate how effective these inducements actually are. Again there was a wide spread of scoring but the top performer was Alfa Romeo while, languishing in the doldrums was Honda. Dealers were also asked how "fair" their carmaker's policy was when it came to supplying and stocking vehicles. Those carmakers considered most "fair" were Toyota and Lexus and those least fair were Chrysler Jeep Dodge and Mercedes. Related Articles
