Halfords reports flat sales at Autocentres |

Halfords has blamed political uncertainty and the World Cup for slow sales.
It reported group like-for-like sales down 2.1 per cent in the 13 weeks to 3 July, the first quarter of its financial year. Like for like sales at the Nationwide Autocentres business bought in February for £73.2m were flat Halfords has rebranded four of the centres and plans to re-brand all of them by March 2011. It also aims to open 12 new outlets in the current financial year. Halfords chief executive officer David Wild said: "The integration of Nationwide is continuing well and I remain pleased with early performance and progress.
