Marshall buys Lisles dealerships

Monday, 17 September 2007
Marshall Motor Group, 18 in the Motor Trader Top 200, has completed the acquisition of the Lisles dealership group for an undisclosed sum, adding three more Vauxhall sites and one new Alfa Romeo outlet to its portfolio.

The three Vauxhall dealerships are based in Knebworth, Hitchin and Welwyn Garden City, with the Hitchin site also stocking Alfa Romeo in a separate showroom. Lisles was a private, family-owned business founded in 1900. Marshall has represented Vauxhall since 1994 and the group now has seven Vauxhall dealerships, the others based in Peterborough, Leicester, Ipswich and Ely. Founded in 1909 by David Marshall, Marshall Motor Group represents 16 manufacturers on 43 sites, employing 1,700 staff. Roger Knight, chief executive, said: “The territory covered by these new sites fits well with our existing markets and this will increase development opportunities for our employees.”
