GE Capital Woodchester to move to Leeds

Monday, 25 March 2002

GE CAPITAL Woodchester is proposing to move from its Edinburgh base to the head office of sister company Global Consumer Finance in Leeds.

GE Capital's managing director Gerard Ryan said: “The proposed change to our business will ensure that we continue to provide a competitive service of the highest quality to dealers.”
GCF works with clients such as Debenhams and House of Fraser. Graham Filmer, divisional director, said that “dealers are increasingly thinking of themselves as retailers”.
According to Filmer, the move to share facilities with GCF will lead to an increased focus on the “lifetime value of customers”, with GE bringing in some of the techniques used by stores.
“Big dealers want big levels of service,” he said.
The move, scheduled for completion by the autumn, will mean 300 staff transferring or taking what GE called an “enhanced redundancy package”.
