Ford has claimed its UK engine production is on track to meet a target of around two million engines a year by 2009.
The blue oval brand said it was beginning to reap the benefits of its £890m investment over the last three years in its Bridgend and Dagenham engine plants. John Fleming, president of Ford of Europe, said the move would significantly increase output and allow the marque to better serve the market for new vehicles. He also maintained that the combined plants were on track to produce over one million engines this year.
