Midlands opens first vocational academy
Wednesday, 22 March 2006
A new vocational learning academy, which will deliver motor industry training for teenagers, has opened its doors in Derbyshire.

The Alfreton Vocational Academy is the first of its kind in the Midlands and will see Emtec, the apprentice arm of training group Carter & Carter, provide the training for the motor vehicles study course. The institute has been established to allow students to study a variety of different vocational courses alongside their GCSEs and will allow them to fast track into advanced apprenticeship programmes.
