Cost of motoring rises

The average cost of motoring has reached £5,000 a year for owners of cars that are less than three years old.

According to research by the RAC, the cost of depreciation alongside tax, maintenance costs and fuel means that the average driver now spends £14 a day to keep their car on the road. The most economical cars cost £3,000 a year to keep while the Porsche Cayenne was the most expensive, costing owners £19,000 a year.
