The Scottish Motor Trade has joined the growing list of organisations criticising proposals to lengthen the time between MoT tests.
Douglas Robertson, chief executive of the SMTA, argued there was little doubt the new proposals would cost lives. “Almost 30 per cent of vehicles already fail the test, can you imagine the potential carnage if this is extended to four years,” he said. “The potential is that if testing is left to every second year, half the vehicles on our roads at any one time may not be roadworthy.”
