UK car production up for April

Provisional output data released by the Office for National Statistics shows that car production in the UK rose 10.

6 per cent in April. This brought the total above the 2004 level for first time this year. SMMT chief executive, Christopher Macgowan, said the figures showed that the UK still has a strong vehicle manufacturing base. He said: “What we need to ensure now is that government delivers on its promise to regulate with a lighter touch, to minimise the cost burden and maintain the competitiveness of UK manufacturing.”
