Russian plant in pipeline for DCX

Carmakers' interest in the fast-growing Russian market continues apace with Daimler Chrysler announcing plans to open a Mercedes-Benz plant near St Petersburg later this year.
Chief executive Jurgen Schrempp said he was hopeful the first Mercedes models would roll off the assembly line this autumn. Total domestic demand for cars is rising rapidly in Russia, with sales expected to rise 40 per cent this year to over half a million.
