The cost of owning and running a car has risen by nearly twice the rate of inflation during the last year, according to an AA Motoring Trust report – The Cost of Motoring – 2005.
It found that the expense of running a petrol-powered car increased by 6 per cent while diesel car costs rose by 5.3 per cent. The AA said the best way to economise on motoring was to choose a model with high mpg and low CO2 emissions.
