The number of dealers going bust fell in the first quarter of 2005 compared to the same period last year.
According to Experian, business failures among motor traders fell by 12 per cent this year after 54 businesses went bust compared to 61 in Q1 2004. But in the servicing and repair sector 11 businesses collapsed this year compared to six last year. Overall in the UK insolvencies amongst limited companies rose by 1.9 per cent in the first quarter of 2005. The data does not take into account the collapse of MG Rover.
