AA tops Which? roadside recovery survey
Wednesday, 30 July 2008
The AA has fended off stiff competition for the second year to top the annual Which? survey of breakdown service providers.

The AA scored 84 per cent in customer satisfaction, followed closely by Britannia and the RAC both at 82 per cent.

AA members were most likely to have their car permanently fixed at the roadside, and the RAC could not match the AA’s quick response times to call-outs. Third placed Britannia scored highest for politeness over the phone, with 84 per cent of its members satisfied. Although Green Flag is the biggest operator in the country, its members are less likely than average to get a repair at the roadside. Which? said it was not a good choice for prospective members if they valued speed of service and didn’t want to be towed. “After shelling out more than £100 for cover in some cases, it’s reasonable to expect to be back on the road sooner rather than later. The AA is unlikely to keep you hanging around on the hard shoulder, but some aspects of Green Flag’s need patching up,” said Richard Headland, editor of Which? Car
