Audi’s chief executive has warned that vehicle prices may have to increase above inflation to account for the skyrocketing costs of raw material and technology. Rupert Stadler told the Financial Times his brand would be prepared to hike its prices next year if the current climate continued. ![]() Stadler's announcement comes as a surprise, as Volkswagen's luxury brand is less likely to be hit hard by tight economic conditions as it pools many costs with its parent group.
While Audi increased prices on some of its models by between 0.5 and 1.5 per cent earlier this year, Stadler said it was too early to say the extent of potential future rises.
