Tom Walkinshaw, one time boss of the Arrows and TWR race car organisations, has applied his name to a special edition of the Mitsubishi L200 pick-up.
Walkinshaw masterminded Jaguar's successful 1980's return to circuit racing, including Le Mans, and sold high performance, road going Jaguars with TWR-badges, but later courted controversy after the collapse of both Arrows and TWR. In recent years he has concentrated on Australian business interests, and the enhanced L200s mark his first British profile-raising exercise in some years.
Costing from £21,499, the Walkinshaw Performance L200s will have model-specific badging, a power upgrade, 20 inch alloy wheels and tyres, leather seats, cruise control and enhanced in car entertainment systems.
Options will include an enhanced suspension and exhaust kit costing £2,595 plus VAT.
This comprises a five-link coil sprung rear suspension with enhanced bushes and upgraded Koni dampers, and an enhanced, performance exhaust system with twin tailpipes.
