Shanghai committed to July start date for TF model

Shanghai Automotive is committed to resuming production of the MG TF roadster at Longbridge in July, according to the Financial Times.

Despite the three month wait in the UK, SAIC intends to begin production of the TF in China at the end of this month.

These announcements come after doubts were raised about the MG project due to one of the main parts suppliers ending its contract with SAIC subsidiary Nanjing Automobile Corporation.

The manufacturer also said it may consider exporting its own Chinese brand Rowe to Europe.
NAC bought the MG brand in 2005, moving the majority of the marque's production to its base in China.

SAIC then acquired the rights for some of the MG models, putting them under the Rowe badge.
