Nissan GT-R: Order books open for supercar
Carmaker claims demand has already outstripped supply

Nissan has opened the order book for its new GT-R supercar and claims to have received 700 orders within the first 48 hours of the car going on sale.

First UK deliveries are expected in March 2009 and the Japanese carmaker has already requested an additional supply of models from Nissan Europe.

“The dealer order line lit-up with an unprecedented amount of orders being placed,” said Paul Willcox, managing director Nissan Motor GB.

“Waiting lists are not unusual to have for a vehicle but there is a limit that people will be prepared to wait. In order to meet demand we are now starting to negotiate vigorously with Nissan Europe to secure further volume from our production facility in Tochigi Japan.”

Prices for the GT-R start at £52,900 and the supercar will be available in three different trim levels from launch.
