Lexus has said the new congestion charge will not be the end of luxury marques in the capital.
Toyota's high-performance brand is pushing its GS 450h as a “fast and stylish” hybrid that will be exempt from the new charges, which will come into force this October. Drivers of the GS 450h will be able to drive charge-free due to the car's emissions of just 185g/km of CO2 – a level the manufacturer has claimed is less than many mass-market family saloon.
The brand has boasted of emissions lower than models such as the BMW 540i and Porsche 911 3.6 Carrera.
