The inquest into the collapse of MG Rover is taking too long and MPs are demanding the government-backed inquiry publish its findings immediately, according to a BBC report. The independent investigation, which began in June 2005, is yet to report any of its findings despite costing almost £11.8m so far. ![]() MPs that form the business and enterprise committee have called for the findings to be made public but the government is not willing to set a deadline. "Justice delayed"Conservative MP Peter Luff, who chairs the committee, said the inquiry had taken too long and has now written to Business Secretary John Hutton urging him to set out a time frame for the report's completion.
“The inquiry is simply taking too long. People lost their jobs and the community was destroyed by what happened at Longbridge and MG Rover,” said Luff.
“I think justice delayed is always justice denied. People want to know the answers and it's taking an awful long time for them to get them.”
It emerged in January that the inquiry had cost almost £12m, including nearly £100,000 on hotels and £30,000 on expenses.
MG Rover went bust in April 2005 with the loss of 6,000 jobs.
