Environmental concerns are rising up the car buying agenda, according to new research.
A vehicle's tailpipe emissions is now one of the top two most important factors for car buyers, a study by Global Reviews found. Fuel efficiency is the second most important consideration, overtaking the look and feel of a vehicle. Online informationThe study also looked at how manufacturers were attempting to help inform car buyers about their model line-ups.
BMW and Jaguar provided the largest amount of emissions data about their vehicles online compared to other carmakers but BMW provided the best overall consumer experience.
Mercedes, Porsche, Audi and Volkswagen also all offer information about the fuel efficiency of their cars on their websites.
"The majority of car companies have recognised this 'green' trend and are providing fuel efficiency information online,” said Adam Goodvach, director, Global Reviews.
“It will be interesting to see how this trend develops. For now, there is a lot more companies can do to make it easier for customers to find the car they are looking for online."
