Admiral names Britain's worst driving day
Tuesday, 22 January 2008
Car accidents are more likely to happen on a Friday than any other day, according to research by insurance company Admiral.

After analysing 1.8 million claims received over the past 15 years, Admiral found that while Friday had the highest number of crashes, the least number of accidents occurred on a Sunday, followed by Saturday.

Crash: Yet another Friday accident
By date, more accidents happen on 18 January than any other day and, unsurprisingly, 29 February is the safest day to take to the roads. Other dates with a high number of accidents include, 20 December, 27 October and 22 March. Admiral managing director, Sue Longthorn, said: "It's not surprising to see that the worst day of the week for accidents is a Friday as people are tired after a long week at work and can easily get caught up thinking about their weekend plans instead of the road ahead. “In fact, there's a direct correlation between the days getting later in the week and the amount of accidents increasing up to the weekend.”
