BMW has admitted it is reviewing its dealer network in anticipation of the end of five-year contracts awarded to many UK retailers following the 2002 changes to the European block exemption regulations.
Major dealer groups could lose some of their BMW and Mini representation as a result of the review. A group communications spokeswoman told Motor Trader: “A review of all BMW representations in the UK is underway, which is still in progress. Until this is complete we have nothing further to add.”
She gave no indication when the review would be complete, but with new contracts to be agreed in October, and a six-month termination notice period required, a decision by the brand is expected this spring.
