Chancellor Gordon Brown is optimistic that the proposed joint venture between Shanghai Automotive and MG Rover can soon be signed.
According to press reports Brown, who is currently on a three-day visit to China, said he hoped the deal would soon be concluded “to the benefit of the British motor industry.” However while Shanghai Automotive has confirmed that negotiations for the deal are in “advanced stages” no firm completion date has yet been announced.
