Indian carmaker wants blue oval man in charge of Jaguar and Land Rover
Tata is expected to appoint a senior Ford executive to run Jaguar and Land Rover should it succeed in acquiring the two brands. According to the Sunday Times, senior industry sources have claimed that owner Rajan Tata is likely to name a top Ford executive in Europe as chief executive of the Jaguar-Land Rover group.
Geoff Polities, an Australian car-industry veteran, currently holds the chief executive role. It is believed that Tata plans to make few immediate changes to the way the British brands operate and will keep UK operations and current model plans intact. Meanwhile, Tata is set to launch what its claims is the world's cheapest new car this week. The 'people's car will retail at around 100,000 rupees, or £1,225. The four-seater hatchback has a steel chassis and plastic body panels, and is powered by a 660cc two-cylinder engine. HAVE YOUR SAY

i say let's get on with it. jaguar is a great brand with a great people, and a very loyal base.just look at what ian and his guys have done when left alone.this is a long road to profitability but it all about product. all wheel drive an XF coupe, earlier intro on the XJ , how about a Jaguar SUV, and a $60k us real sports car...beautiful fast cars always in style...right decision on Geoff now keep Mike o'dricole, and the rest of the uk and us crew (marti) and lets make it the come back business story of the decade...i trust Tata, remember they are a famiily company like most jaguar dealers,,,happy birthday mr tata
