Aston Martin to unveil new design centre
Gaydon facility will help increase car production

Aston Martin is to unveil its new design studio in Gaydon, Warwickshire this evening.

The new facility is key to the luxury carmaker's plan to expand UK production just nine months after its £479m acquisition by the consortium headed by racing boss Dave Richards.

According to the BBC, Aston Martin chief executive Dr Ulrich Bez wants to raise output from 7,000 units a year to cut the waiting time for new models.

Emerging markets

There is also a growing demand for the brand in the emergent new car markets.

Aston Martin has just opened its first dealership in Shanghai, China and will open a second showroom in Beijing later this month.

A Moscow dealership was also opened earlier this year.

While Gaydon will remain key to meeting rising production targets, Aston Martin said it had not ruled out manufacturing new models – including the Rapide – outside of the UK.
