New car sales in Europe in January totalled just over 1.
2 million, according to Acea, the association of European car makers. A marginal fall of 0.8 per cent year-on-year came after rises of 7.8 per cent and 5.7 per cent in November and December 2004, respectively. Of the big five markets, the UK, Germany and Italy reported fewer sales while France and Spain posted increases.
