Nationwide recruits former Carter & Carter boss
Des Hackman will head up new business division

Nationwide Accident Repair Services has appointed Des Hackman, a former senior management team member of struggling automotive training provider Carter and Carter, to lead a new business services division.

Hackman was with Carter and Carter for nine years, having previously worked for Direct Line Insurance and Nissan.

“We are pleased about the establishment of this new division and I am delighted that Des Hackman will be driving its development,” said Michael Wilmshurst, Nationwide chief executive.

“We intend to combine our customer service ethos and insurance industry knowledge with Des's substantial experience of automotive outsourcing, training and B2B solution development.”

The new business division has been established to offer support across a broad range of functions including accident repair, parts, aftersales and staff development.

It is intended to boost the group's twin-track strategy to drive growth both organically and via acquisition.
