The appointments follow Inchcape's decision earlier this year to focus on a core group of brands. Inchcape said it sold the businesses for a total of £15.8m.

The group was the UK distributor for Ferrari and Maserati until October 2004 when the luxury marques took the operation in house.

Andrea Antonnicola, managing director of Maserati GB Ltd said: “With the recent launch of the new GranTurismo and the Quattroporte Automatic, the Maserati brand is now in an excellent position to take advantage of additional demand for our products in the UK.” Lancaster Sevenoaks, previously Maranello Sevenoaks, will maintain the dealership's showroom location until a new site, which will combine both the sales and aftersales functions, can be established.

All service work will be transferred to Lancaster Colchester until new premises can be established. HR Owen Sports Cars St Albans, previously Maranello St Albans, will operate from the existing premises, with service work now transferred to the Central London Aftersales facility. Maranello Egham, taken over by the Sytner Group, will maintain the same name and flagship premises, as well as a Ferrari corner which offers a Ferrari Dealer Selection of merchandise.
