Mini's largest ever model is set to hit UK showrooms later this year.

Mini Clubman large
The new Mini Clubman, which is based on a concept first shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2005, is set for its UK launch in November. The new model range is based on the Morris Mini Traveller, Austin Mini Countryman and the Mini Clubman Estate, which launched in the 1960s.

Biggest model

The Clubman will be 24cm longer than the current Hatch model, will feature five seats and an increased boot capacity of 260 litres. It will be available at launch in three engine variants - Cooper, Cooper D and Cooper S. Prices start at £14,235 on-the-road for the entry-level Cooper, rising to £17,210 for the Cooper S version.

Features include easier access through new door concepts, more space for rear passengers and high levels of safety. Parent company BMW claimed the new car had kept its traditional design with the retention of short body overhangs, wide track and long wheelbase. All three derivatives will be built at Plant Oxford, where £100m has been invested in the past two years to increase annual production to 240,000 units by 2008.
