Super complaint threat recedes

The threat of the National Consumer Council making a super complaint against the service and repair industry has receded since the introduction of the Automotive Technician Accreditation.

According to Steve Nash, chair of the IMI and BMW Group UK aftersales director, the training scheme, which was launched two years ago, has boosted professionalism in the motor trade and eased concerns over poor customer service. The deadline for the super complaint is September 2007 but Nash said the indications were that the NCC would support the Retail Motor Strategy Group's proposal for self-regulation through a government-backed code of practice.
