Peugeot has launched the first of its “8” generation cars as the 308 five-door hatchback comes to the UK in September.
The 308 replaces the outgoing 307, with the updated model offering reduced fuel consumption and lower carbon emissions.
The 1.6 litre HDi engine emits only 120g/km of CO2 and will be available in a choice of seven engine options.
Peugeot said it would evolve the 308 into a number of different body shapes in the coming years, eventually introducing a 'BioFlex' petrol model.
