Coupe Cross to boost Audi's SUV offering

Audi looks set to increase its presence in the SUV 4x4 sector with a model intended to sit below its giant Q7 4x4 to rival cars such as the BMW X3.

At the recent Shanghai Motor Show the brand revealed a design study called the Audi Cross Coupe.
This was a compact five-door 4x4 with fastback styling,
fitted with a transverse 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, direct injection diesel engine and a variety of sophisticated electronic
controls for its suspension
and transmission settings.
The interior also features a variety of ergonomic design ideas likely to be seen in production Audis.
The company has a long tradition of previewing production models, such as the original A8 executive saloon, in design exercise form.
The detailing of this car, both internally and externally, indicates that it is likely to form the basis of a road-going product, taking its makers into a fresh market segment.
