Michael Derham, 20, from the Newcastle-based Hodgson Toyota dealership, was pitted against other outstanding talents from across Europe working within Toyota's training academy.
Derham and his team were announced as winners after completing an eight-part final assessment over two days with fellow contestants in Rotterdam.
Currently completing the second year of his three-year apprenticeship, he will begin his full-time job this summer at Hodgson.
Owner Steve Hodgson said the company invested heavily in training and a development scheme for all levels of staff across the business, from technical to managerial.
“Through our commitment to staff training, we continuously strive to develop and retain our employees, who like Michael, possess tremendous qualities,” he said.
