Mondial, the roadside recovery group, has reported a 17 per cent rise in net profit to 55.9m euros (£38m) in 2006.

Turnover increased 12 per cent to 1.37bn euros compared to the previous year but the French company said the UK continued to be a challenging marketplace. Europe accounted for 82.4 per cent of net profit in 2006 - an increase of 56.5 per cent compared to 2005.

Group strategy

“Year after year, the group's constant and profitable growth reflects the quality of our strategy based on the development of new geographical markets and innovation in both our traditional business lines and new services,” said Ida Luka-Lognoné, acting president of the Mondial executive committee. Including its travel division, Mondial claims it processed 10.5 million cases last year and assisted 25 million people across the world.
