EurotaxGlass's claims that the premium paid for black coloured cars is up to £500 more than any other colour after one year or 12,000 miles. ![]() Some black models are worth £500 more Black prestige models are most likely to achieve a higher value but the trend also applies to other vehicle sector.
Richard Crostwaithe, Prestige Car editor at EurotaxGlass's said: “Forecourt asking prices for prestige models in black are typically several hundred pounds higher, and exceptional retail demand means customers are much less able to negotiate a discount.

Lower value prestige brand vehicles such as compact executive saloons typically have premiums of £250 for black paint, whereas on larger SUV models this figure can rise to £500.
Crostwaithe added that contrary to media reports, white paint was unpopular among buyers of used prestige cars.
