Dealers to become fuel experts
12 April 2007
Dealers must change the way they sell vehicles by becoming more familiar with different fuel types as the switch to greener motoring gathers pace.
Successful retailers in the future will be those that become experts on guiding customers towards the right fuel for their needs. According to Network Automotive, the consultancy firm, the push towards more environmentally friendly motoring means consumers will be faced with a choice of up to a dozen different fuels, including varying percentages of biofuel and different kinds of hybrid vehicles.
Dealers need to become experts in helping customers make fuel choices, whether fleet or private customer, said Network Automotive managing director Colin Bruder. They need to look at factors such as how many miles the driver covers, in what kind of environment, what refuelling facilities they have access to, how expensive running that vehicle will be and the environmental impact."
