Honda has notched up UK sales of over 100,000 cars in a year for the first time ever. ![]() A record final month in the 2006-2007 financial year saw the Japanese brand record sales of 100,300 units between April 2006 and March 2007.
During that period Honda has also achieved a record share of the UK new car market at 4.66 per cent.
The Honda Civic five-door and Type S variants were the brand's biggest sellers, followed by the Jazz and the CR-V off-roader.
In 1991 Honda sold 26,000 units, rising to 60,000 in 1997 and the brand has now set itself the target of 150,000 UK sales.
The record year for sales coincides with a predicted record year of production for Honda at its Swindon plant.
During 2007 over 200,000 cars will be built at the plant, rising to 250,000 cars in 2008.
