Sainsbury's highlights haggling trend

Car buyers that fail to haggle over the price of a new car will waste a total £611m in the UK market.

Between March and August 2007, up to 386,000 people intend to buy a new car and none intend to haggle, research by Sainsbury's Bank claimed.

The study estimated that car buyers could save an average of £1,585 on each transaction if they were prepared to barter, which amounted to a saving of £611.81m.

Sainsbury's Bank offered several tips to consumers to help secure a better deal.

They included acquiring a new car just before the plate change months and buying a vehicle just before the manufacturer introduced a new model.

If Sainsbury's really want their customers to save money then the best advice they could give is to tell their customers to shop in Tesco's

Sainsburys are happy to drive down the price they give to farmers. Ever tried hagling in Sainsbury's bank or shops, why do they have to pick on the Motor trade? If the £600 million is not 'wasted' on the motor trade there will not be a motor trade in a couple of years.
