White coloured cars are making a comeback on dealer forecourts, imitating the changes taking place on the catwalk. ![]() Sales of white cars have risen 62% A study by online car retailer New-Car-Discount.com reveals that sales of white cars have risen by 62 per cent in the past six months alone.
The study claimed that the latest fashions on the catwalk and interior design trends, where white is proving a popular colour, were prompting the trend.
It also claimed that younger generations of people styling themselves on American rap stars, who regard white cars as status symbols, were now buying white vehicles.
We have witnessed an increase from the MTV generation According to Terry Hogan, managing director of New-Car-Discount, the style consciousness of UK consumers is having a strong influence on the colour choice of their car.
“We have certainly witnessed an increase in people asking for white cars, with demand predominantly coming from under 30s – the so called MTV generation,” he said.
Conversely, the increased popularity of white cars comes at a time when the UK's police force is moving away from white to silver.
