Peter Vardy has acquired a former Reg Vardy Vauxhall site in Motherwell giving the fledgling group its third Scottish outlet since it launched last year. ![]() Peter Vardy:opportunity to build business The new site has been acquired for an undisclosed sum from Pendragon who last year bought the Reg Vardy business, founded by Peter Vardy's grandfather in 1923, for £506m.
The Peter Vardy business, which was established last June when it took over Perth Vauxhall, is currently building a Vauxhall site in Kirkcaldy which it plans to open in the summer.
The Motherwell site, which will be known as Peter's Car Company, will undergo a significant rebuild which will see a new showroom open by the end of the year. The existing showroom will remain open while the work is being carried out.
The Motherwell business has not been operating to its full potential The company confirmed Motherwell will be its flagship site and will accommodate the group's UK headquarters.
“We are delighted to have acquired Motherwell Vauxhall. The manufacturer approached us to take it over based on our success in Perth over the last ten months, and all credit goes to our team who are building a formidable reputation in our industry,” said chief executive Peter Vardy.
“The Motherwell business has not been operating to its full potential so we know there is an opportunity to build a great business there.”
