AA Warranty, the new joint venture between the organisation's insurance division and Motorway Direct, is targeting a number of dealer groups as it looks to expand its UK coverage. ![]() The company launched last December after Motorway Direct ended its long term agreement to run the RAC's warranty business.
Motorway Direct claimed it had retained its existing customer base and was looking to attract new dealers and car supermarket groups to the AA brand.
“We haven't lost any dealers with the new deal and now we're looking to offer our products on a wider distribution basis,” said Simon Tennyson, managing director of Motorway Direct.
We want to be in the dealer market “The next 18 months will see us rolling out a range of new products to dealers. We have access to customer data through our other companies which will allow us to help drive new customers into dealerships.”
Tennyson said the decision to transfer its business allegiance was down to both parties sharing “like-minded” objectives.
“The AA's strategy sees them wanting to be in the dealer market and that's where we want to be too,” he said.

Was thinking of taki... Was thinking of taking out an extended warranty for my nearly 3 year old Golf which is coming to the end of it's manufacturer's warranty, but this contributor's experience has put me off. Any other comments good or bad about these warranties? |

Glad I could help ju... Glad I could help just one person Robin. The company now want me to travel 10 miles to a small back street garage to have the car repaired. I went to see them and discreetly asked them where they get their parts from? (My car needs specialist parts from the dealer). Guess what, they get them from a budget parts supplier!!! This is most comforting to know when it is such an important part such as steering!!! Once again, I implore you not to take out this insurance!! If you get a problem, they will call it "wear and tear", get the garage to use sub-standard parts, or not call you back full stop... |

DO NOT BUY THE AA CO... DO NOT BUY THE AA COVER!!!! I purchased the "prestige" cover after my 3 yr warranty ran out on my new car. I had a call from a sales woman who said the dealer had pa*sed on my details. I was told (or Sold) that as my car was low milage, serviced regularly by the main dealer (as per waranty) and that I only travelled 6000 miles a year, I was eligable for their all singing all dancing policy. 3 months later, taking my car to the main dealer for it's yearly service, they tell me that there is a problem with the steering rack, but unfortunately it can't be done under warranty as it was just over the 3 years. NO WORRIES I thought, glad I took out the AA policy... WRONG!!! I called the AA claims line who then asked me to contact the dealer to get them to call the AA. I received a call from the dealer 10 minutes later to be told that the AA would not cover it as it was cla*sed as "wear and tear!" If the bart had broken in transit, it would have been covered! I called the AA back and was put through to an obnoxious man called Jaimy Glisson. Totally negative and obstructive. He refused to do anything at all. When I told him that the dealer has said it is not wear and tear, he just said that in his opinion it was.... now these claims guys are qualified mechanics too? I have now had to issue a county court claim against them for all the costs and refund of my policy. This is quite easy to do at www.moneyclaim.gov.uk and I advise anyone who has a problem with the AA to do so too. For all those thinking of taking an AA warranty out DON'T!!! They will fit any legitimate claim into the " not covered" umberella!!! |
