BSI publishes Kitemark guidelines
Monday, 05 March 2007
The British Standards Institute has produced an information guide on its Kitemark for Garages Services to encourage businesses to sign up to the scheme.

The guide has been published in response to calls from the aftermarket for more information on the Kitemark scheme for garages. The leaflet highlights all the key benefits garages can take advantage of by gaining Kitemark accreditation, including increased revenue and profitability. Inside the leaflet, BSI has also re-iterated the recent independent findings that 82 per cent of the UK adult population recognise the Kitemark and 69 per cent of these are willing to spend more on a Kitemark service. The leaflet, which is being sent directly to garages throughout the UK, allows them to reply to BSI in order to receive their Kitemark for Garage Services application pack. Jack Kryiacos from Kitemark licensee East London Garage, claimed the strength of the Kitemark was in its independence. “The strength of the Kitemark scheme is in its independence. BSI is outside the motor industry and is therefore recognised by the public as impartial,” he said. “Everyone at East London Garage feels more confident and professional when dealing with customers and we've seen a significant increase in business, aided by an advertising campaign using the Kitemark.”
