NEW YORK, NEW YORK:

The 2006 New York International Auto Show took place at the start of the month featuring a raft of new model launches.

One of the main attractions was the new Ford Escape Hybrid, which the manufacturer claims can drive around Manhattan “on a tank of gas”. According to Ford the new model averages 38 miles per gallon and can cover 576 miles of Manhattan traffic on a single tank of petrol. Pictured above is Ford CEO Bill Ford with the car in Manhattan Other cars that made their North American debut included the Suzuki XL7 and the Porsche 911 turbo.
