MERCEDES-BENZ is to launch its new S-Class luxury saloon in the UK in spring 2006.
The car will be available with four engines — three petrol and one diesel — three of which are new Mercedes developments. In addition to the 3.5-litre V6 first seen in the SLK, a new V8 will be introduced in the S 500. Also making its debut is a V6 CDI diesel unit in the new S 320 CDI while a more powerful 12-cylinder petrol engine will serve the top of the range S 600.
Mercedes has produced 485,000 units of the current S-Class series worldwide since 1998.
Since its launch in the UK in 1999 sales of the S-Class have exceeded 17,500. The series was revised in 2001.
