The Sector Skills Agreement — what you need to know

Automotive Skills is about to begin a journey towards the creation of a Sector Skills Agreement and we want automotive managers to come on board.

This will be your chance to be heard and to make a real difference to the future direction of the education, training and skills for our sector's workforce right across the UK.
This journey is a partnership and will comprise a series of steps where feedback is both sought and encouraged. The SSA process will identify employer and workforce skills needed now and in the future and determine how best these needs can be satisfied to improve the productivity and performance of businesses in the sector.
The SSA will help to ensure that the funding of education and training will be better targeted to meet an agreed set of objectives for the sector. Funding requirements will be laid out in the final Agreement together with the types and levels of training needed.
Automotive Skills' role in the SSA will be to act as a broker and facilitator to ensure:
l training meets employers' needs
l there is an increase in the number of employers prepared to train their employees
You will have the opportunity to contribute towards the SSA throughout the five-stage process. This might be by taking part in confidential research, attending workshops, or simply commenting on specific issues. It will be up to you, but we need to know that you want to take part. Remember, this is your SSA, and you the employers will shape its outcomes.
