automatically within 24 hours without any action being
taken by the dealer. These moves mean we're consolidating our position as industry leader in delivering parts, said a spokesman.
Honda's manager for
logistics and dealer parts
support Steve Jackson, told Motor Trader: The key
benefits for us will be internal costs, we expect to break
even within three years,
coupled with greater efficiency and flexibility. The current
two [parts] warehouses are rented and we have activated the breakclauses in our contracts.
Honda Logistics UK purchased the freehold of the 15-acre site at South Marston Park
in Swindon from ProLogis Developments.
Work on the construction
of the 350,000 sq ft warehouse
is expected to be completed
by September in order for the facility to become fully op-
erational by January next
year.
Situated next to Honda's vehicle manufacturing operations at Swindon, the new Honda parts distribution centre will replace the current facilities at St Margaret's in Swindon.
It will have 11.5 million eaves, four loading doors
and 30 dock-levellers and
will also include 21,0000 sq ft
of offices on three storeys.
